License types vary from image to image but any restriction are clearly displayed alongside the image. All images on Wikipedia use the creative commons license.

2. Morgue File

  5. Hi Javier, I’m impressed with this list! I came here thinking I would see some of the same old tired resources that I already know but I see three here that are new to me. I visit the Nasa site all the time and I found a few goodies over at Stock Exchange. I’ll be sure to look into the others asap.

I have a question about Stock Exchange, is there a way to search by keyword and get free images only in the search results? I haven’t figured out how to do that yet.

    Thanks for the resources!

  7. Ileane, thanks for your comment, glad you find this new resources.

About your question in Stock Exchange even in the advance mode, the search results always show in the first row iStockphoto images. I guess is the only downside. : )

  13. A few months back I did a post for finding premium and free images on the web and I hadn’t heard wikicommons or morgue file.

I mostly use stock exchange, but I get tired of the limited images there. So now I can try out these other sites for more images when needed. Thanks for sharing this list.
