Who originally coined the term “graphic design” appears to be in dispute. It has been attributed to Richard Guyatt, the British designer and academic, but another source suggests William Addison Dwiggins, an American book designer in the early 20th century
In 1900 the bookbinder T. J. Cobden-Sanderson associated with Emery Walker . They bothered to attack the problem of pure typography arguing that global duty of typography is to communicate to the imagination, incidentally and without loss, the thought or image that the author tries to convey.
When I studied the graphic design career in the year 1990 computer use was almost nil and depended on our ability to turn those sketches and drawings in a dummy for our customer using more traditional means such as paste up, drawing and so on. Actually the process was becoming craftsmanship. Most times these designs were used for print media, magazines, brochure, etc.
In that same year 1990 was released the first version of Photoshop, and Tim Berners-Lee developed the World Wide Web, along with HTML and the concept of the addresses for web pages.

Yesterday a customer specifically requested me a font for his web page menu. Of course this was not Arial. After much struggle I found a surprisingly simple solution using CSS.
To do this we use the @ font-face rule and fonts in Open Type (. Otf) or True type format (. Ttf)
